Stacy Glidden (Late)
Tribute to Stacy Glidden
It is with profound sadness and heavy hearts that I announce the passing of our dear friend, colleague, and champion for educational justice, Stacy A Glidden.
Stacy was more than a leader within our organization—she was one of its pillars. As a foundational board member, Educational Advocate, and Chairman of our Advisory Board, Stacy helped shape the values, direction, and heart of our work. Her wisdom guided us. Her passion pushed us forward. Her commitment to our community never wavered, not for one minute, even as she faced increasing physical health barriers.
She was also a top supporter of my husband's initiative, #TheSingleSavedandSeriousMovement. Her joy when she gave her support was always 110%, calling up at all hours to throw ideas and affirmations at you.
But beyond her titles and roles, Stacy was my friend in the truest sense of the word. She was someone I could talk to on the days when the weight of leadership felt lonely. She understood the emotional labor that comes with building something for our community. In those conversations, Stacy always reminded me that I was doing my best, even when I struggled to see it myself. She would tell me she was proud of me and all I had accomplished. That I had kept my focus and my word. She also saw the frailty and comedy in life and people. There was always time to share a funny video, irreverent play on words or human nature.
It has been 13 years. Thirteen years since she stepped into my life during a Partners in Policymaking training and never stepped out. Her encouragement was gentle, yet at times, she spoke like the activist she truly was. Her friendship was steady. Her belief in this work, in the gifts God gave her and in all of us, was unwavering.
Losing Stacy is incredibly hard. There are no perfect words for this kind of grief. She leaves behind a legacy of advocacy and generosity that will continue shaping our mission for years to come. Her imprint is everywhere, especially in the formation of our Advisory Board and the yet to be released area of educational advocacy for our youth under 18. Her words will still ring throughout the programming she fought to create and the families and community she loved.
As we honor her life, we also recommit ourselves to the values she carried so fiercely: accessibility, equity, community, and care. We will continue this work in her memory, knowing she is still with us in spirit, still pushing us to be brave, still reminding us that we are doing well. And, that she is proud of us.
Rest in power, Stacy. Thank you for everything you gave us. Thank you for everything you gave me. You will be deeply missed, and forever remembered.
